Cricket Pitch in HopkintonWe have been in touch with the town of Hopkinton since Oct/Nov 2017 for a cricket pitch in Hopkinton, working together with some local residents that are part of the Massachusetts Cricket League. We have made considerable progress on the same and below is a summary (more to come before 2018 season kicks-off):- Verbal permission from Hopkinton Park and Recreation that we can construct an astro turf pitch on Fruit Street (Soccer Ground) - Conditions would be that the pitch can be used by Hopkinton community teams (i.e. NOT teams that are under private ownership) - Agreement from Youth soccer team to use the fields during the school summer break (when there are NO soccer activities). We have to ensure periodic/proper communication and co-ordination with the soccer teams on our usage - Field rates would be determined by Hopkinton Park and Recreation as per their guidelines and these are EXTREMELY beneficial for in-town teams; it costs more for out of town teams to use the pitch - We have spoken to an experienced contractor who can build a pitch in March. The cost tentatively comes to $9000, which we may need to raise for now and town may re-imburse some of it (yet to understand the clauses around it) - More updates to come in the next few days/weeks |
