About: About Murad-Rana Cricket Touranemnt is the longest community event of Bangladeshis living in Arizona and upholding the wonderful harmony among the community members since 2006. Mission The mission of Murad-Rana Memorial Cricket Touranment organized by Association of Arizona Bngladeshi Cricketers (AABC) previously known as Arizona Tigers' Cricket Committee is to build a solidarity among the Bangladeshi community in Arizona and also promote the game of cricket to all especially to the next generation. Company Overview Murad-Rana Memorial Cricket Tournament started its journey in February 2006 in Phoenix, Arizona with the name of Murad Memorial Cricket Tournament in memory of Late Mr. Muraduzzaman Murad, a renowned artist, a journalist, an organizer and a very active individual of Bangladeshi Community of Phoenix, Arizona. From next season after the death of Dr. Shamsul Islam Rana, the name of the tournament was changed to Murad-Rana Memorial Cricket Tournament. Late Dr. Rana was a renowned Nefrologist in Arizona, who used to live in Prescott. He was a very helpful individual for the Bangladeshi community and also a cricket lover, who even played the first tournament. The tournament has been organized by Association of Arizona Bangladeshi Crickters (AABC), previously known as Arizona Tigers Cricket Committee (ATCC), which is named after the cricket team Arizona Tigers formed by Bangladeshi cricketers living in Arizona for the Arizona Cricket League. The team Arizona Tigers played couple of seasons in early 90s in Arizona Cricket League and later organized some cricket games every year until formally launched the Murad Memorial and Murad-Rana Memorial Cricket Tournament. Bangladesh Assosiation of Phoenix (BAP) is the co-organizer of this event. BAP usually sponsors the food for the final game and initially sponsored the tournament trophies. Murad-Rana Memorial Cricket Tournament is strictly for the teams formed by the cricketers with Arizona residences and with Bangladeshi originalities. This tournament is a well organized one. After every game the game report and the score cards are published to all the Bangladeshis living in Phoenix area through emails. All the statistics are kept in very organized manner. Tournament has its own written rules and regulations, which are mostly ICC rules and the players and the team officials have to sign code of conduct document before the start of the tournament. In 2006 the tournament started with three teams - Phoenix East, Phoenix West and Phoenix South. There were total four 30 overs games and Phoenix West became the Champion beating Phoenix East. The next tournament started in late 2006 and ended in 2007 with the name Murad-Rana Memorial. The same three teams participated with new names. Phoenix West took the name as Phoenix Cheetahs, Phoenix East took the name as Mesa Lions and Phoenix South took as Chandler Bengals. The teams faced each other twice before the final. Total seven 30 overs games were played and Chandler Bengals won the trophy defeating Phoenix Cheetahs in the Final. In 2007-2008, a new team Laveen Broncos, registered in the tournament along with all previous three teams. Total number of games increased to 13. All were 30 overs games. Mesa Lions won the trophy defeating Phoenix Cheetahs in the final. In 2008-2009, the same four teams played the tournament. Tournament format has been changed to Twenty-Twenty. A total 13 games were played and Phoenix Cheetahs became the champion forthe second time in the tournament defeating Chandler Bengals. In 2009-2010, two more teams were registered. They are Laveen Bagha and Arizona Jaguars. The tournament starts on Nov 1, 2009 and will end on Mar 28, 2010. From this season ATCC is formally arranging a pre-season tournament (Arizona Tigers' Pre-season-ATP Tournament). ATP Tournament has started on Oct 10, 2009.
