                                          SJCL 2017  (Final Review)

This is it - the grand finale and the curtains to a sparkling season, where Starks take on Hawks in the final of the SJCL 2017. In what will be a sold out match, it is tough to pick a favourite.

It will be twice in a succession that teams which have actually started the tournament, will be facing each other in the Final. (Look back to 2016 league for Warriors v/s Tigers matches)

Final: STARKS v/s HAWKS

Starks: “TYPHOONS” Starks have taken the tournament with a violent storm. Given their strong performance over the second half of the tournament, and their comfortable win in semi-final, they are surely riding high on confidence and consider themselves favorites to clinch the title. Could the team quoted as “The ONE-MAN ARMY”, break the jinx and have a combined team batting effort is yet to be seen. Apart from that, they boast a strong bowling, along with a decent fielding attack. Can they be stopped, is something we will need to wait and watch.

Hawks: “HUNTERS” The most underrated team of SJCL 2017 surprised one and all by putting up a solid performance in reaching the semi’s, and their comprehensive win in the semi-finals, will give them a whole lot of boost and confidence heading into the final. The only Team that has support from all over, both on the field and off the field will do anything and everything to pull it past through their opposition to secure the trophy. Will they be able to stop the “ONE-MAN ARMY”?

Head to Head: Starks (2) v/s Hawks (1)

Analysis: Hawks comfortably defeated Starks in the inaugural match of the season, and unable to replicate the same thereafter. Given the form and head-on-head history, Starks will be heading into the game very confident. On the other hand, Hawks is a team capable of causing major upsets, and will have to try something different to hold their nerve, and play to their potential - full strength and capacity, if they have to pull it through.

Stats and trivia:

  1. 8 Players with experience playing in a Final will be stepping foot into this year’s Finale

    1. 5 Players from Starks

      1. Bharath’s fortunes are riding high as he is the only player whose teams have made it through to the finals on all 3 occasions and no wonder he would be in a high demand during next year’s team selection. On a contrary, participating teams may even pay to committee to secure him in their team.

HATTRICK DEFENDER: Anmol with 1626 points is 43 points behind Rajaneesh with 1669. Most likely, that Anmol will move past. If that happens, Rajaneesh would be stranded at second place thrice, in as many successful tournaments.
