| About: | Cricket has been played at UTSC for a long time now, and the UTSC Cricket Program has been at the UofT Scarborough Campus for over 18 years. The sport grew slowly and steadily within the campus. But it was never a sport that expanded beyond the campus. But in the recent years this was not the case, a change came in the sport of Cricket at UTSC. In January of 2018, the Club for the first time was able to form a team that played in the Ontario College Tape ball Tournament against teams from many universities and colleges in Ontario. And it was also able to create history at UTSC. This same year UTSC formed the first ever all Female Cricket Team, that went to play a Tri-Series between Laurier and Ryerson hosted at TPASC by UCC. Despite the female team playing for the first time they were successful to triumph in the tournament and become the first ever victors of an all female cricket Tri-series. This was the first Female Cricket Team in all of UofT. The Tri-Series became such a great success that the Club was able to host it again in 2019 and invite Ryerson and York to come play at TPASC at the Tri-series. UTSC again for the second time in the row in this tournament went undefeated. And, won the championship. The UTSC Cricket Club is also the proud organizer and host of the Toronto Cricket Post-Secondary League. The TCPL began on July-31-2019 after month of planning. The League is made to give student Cricketers an opportunity to play in a outdoor cricket league. A league which is organized to be 2 months in length and giving players the chance to play cricket in a competitive level. The League was organized with the collaboration of The UTSC Athletics and Recreational Department. In the inaugural year of TCPL, 4 teams attended the league. UTSC Cricket Team, UTSG Cricket Team, McMaster Cricket Team and Combined (York/UTM) Cricket Team. Prior to these events the Club has not stopped. The Club reopened its outdoor cricket ventures by hosting a Bi-Series against UTSG in 2018 on its home ground at the UTSC Valley, which they won. The UTSC Cricket Team has also played in the CCC Nationals Tournament, which had 12 universities and colleges competing in it. The UTSC Team finished second in that tournament. The club has also taken the incentive with the UTSC Athletics on restarting and organizing TriCampus tournaments in which all 3 UofT Campuses could take a part in and celebrate there love for the sport. In addition, to all this the Club also strives to increase its interactions with many students on the UTSC Campus by host events like the Annual India vs Pakistan Games, Female Students Cricket Coaching Sessions, Garba, Diwali and many more events. The UTSC Cricket Club has two missions in mind with all of its activities.
