Covington Conyers are the 2017 T20 Tournament Premier League Winners
Atlanta Lions and Covington Conyers played their heart out in all the play off games to reach the finals of the Premier League division T20 tournament. Both teams defeated the top seeded teams in QF and SF games in the previous weeks and were ready to take on each other in the Finals. Both teams have played against each other in several different encounters for 40-40 as well as T20 games and knew the players from teams very well. Lions won the toss and decided to bat first and put on a big score. Lions started very well and were on 20 runs in two overs. But Conyers had a different plan for them and got the break through in the third over in the form of runout by a direct hit from Chirag. In the very next over Nimir continued his tremendous bowling form and got a hatrick by claiming the wickets of the agressive Alay Patel, Kaushik Bhakta and Hemanth V. Nimir took a fifer and reduced A. Lions to 61 for 7 in 11.4 overs. Lions recovered from this collapse but could only put a score of 123/7 (a below par score by 20 runs). Viral Pandya and Yogesh Bhakta scored 41 and 27 respectively. Conyers also had their top order collapsed to 14 for 3 in 3.4 overs chasing a below par score. Chirag and Jay steadied the innnings with a run a ball partnership of 37 runs. Chirag held the innnings from one end while Jay, Nimir and Srinivas played a quick fire innings of 18, 13 and 20 runs respectively. Chirag remained not out on 62 off 47 balls and made sure Conyers reach their target successfully. |
